Grease. It goes down warm and liquid and cools into a solid coating on the pipe wall a few feet downstream, narrowing the line a little more each week. Cabling punches a hole through it. Hydro jetting scours the pipe wall back to full diameter, which is why the intervals get a lot longer afterward. Regular trap service keeps it from rebuilding as fast.
